Woodbridge dealmaker David Walsh has an extensive background in the waste industry.
David has been involved in acquisition, integration and divestiture from an operating perspective for 25 years. He focuses on the waste, industrial and environmental sectors for Woodbridge. His previous work spanned technology, software, business as well as environmental services. Prior to serving Woodbridge clients, he was VP of Sales at United Site Services the largest portable sanitation provider in the U.S. David has held a variety of senior management roles at Thermo Electron, Emerson Electric, GE, and Iron Mountain. David has a BS in Accounting from Bentley College.
In 2011, 1,370 M&A transactions were closed worldwide in the Waste/Sanitary Services industry, according to CapitalIQ, a leading investment banking database.
The U.S. waste management industry includes about 18,000 companies with combined annual revenue of about $75 billion. The quest for vertical integration is the one of the key M&A drivers in the Waste industry. For example, some large landfill operators have acquired waste collection companies to ensure a steady waste stream.
